Sunca, 900,000 Dollars Are Missing and Nobody Is Taking Responsibility
The construction union had a murky handling of the workers' money.
The Sindicato Único Nacional de la Construcción y Anexos (SUNCA), together with the Fondo Social de Vivienda de Obreros de la Construcción (FOSVOC), filed a criminalcomplaint with the Office of the Attorney General on January 28 to investigate possible crimes of embezzlement, conspiracy, and fraud.

According to the union, the criminal complaint is sponsored by lawyer Oscar López Goldaracena, a former senator of the Communist Party.
It arises from serious irregularities detected in money transfers to third parties that were unrelated to the benefits granted by the Fund.
Communists involved
Sunca expelled two communist union leaders for irregular collections from the Fondo Social de Vivienda de Obreros de la Construcción (Foscvoc) in the scheme, where almost 900,000dollars are missing.
Sunca, led for decades by unionists from the Communist Party list 1001, to save face and pretend they are against corruption, expelled a couple of unionists.

They think everything is fixed with this, but nobody knows how they will recover the missing 900,000 dollars.
What will happen?
The prosecution has to investigate what happened, but generally in fraud crimes, even if the culprits can be found, the money is almost never recovered.
Therefore, it is very likely that it will never appear. Here the only ones harmed are the construction workers who contributed to the Fund, and overnight they were left without their contribution.
The workers contributed the money in good faith and suddenly find themselves with a huge shortfall. Obviously, in a country like Uruguay, 900,000 dollars is a fortune.
Dirty financing to the Communist Party?

This missing money is very strange and suspicious. Sunca didn't take the necessary precautions, and the money evaporated despite many union activists demanding explanations.
A union led by the Communist Party for years has intimate relations with that political formation.
Just see that the re-elected senator OscarAndrade was for many years the main leader of SUNCA.
It can't be stated for certain if this scheme was used to finance the Party's electoral campaign, but it's all murky and dark.
The Justice must solve and determine responsibilities.
