They find the body of José de la Luz Martínez, a businessman kidnapped in Reynosa; discovery raises alarm in local security

The businessman José de la Luz Martínez Ramírez, 81 years old, was found dead in Reynosa. His murder has caused great consternation in Mission, Texas.

Martínez had been kidnapped on Thursday. His body appeared near the Anzaldúas bypass, an important route to the Reynosa-Mission international bridge.

Ongoing investigation

After his disappearance, the Tamaulipas Prosecutor's Office activated an urgent search. The businessman was last seen in a parking lot. He left his 2023 Jeep Gladiator before being kidnapped.

His body was found on Saturday. The prosecutor's office inspected the area and examined his truck, found in the Del Maestro neighborhood. They are looking for clues to help identify those responsible.

Insecurity at the border

The growing violence in Reynosa worries the community. Citizens and prominent figures are constant victims of crime. This crime is another blow to confidence in local authorities.

One of the most troubling aspects is Martínez's relationship with Frida Paoletti Leyva, Prosecutor of the Municipal DIF. His murder could have political motives or be an act of revenge. This exacerbates doubts about the effectiveness of security in Reynosa.

Demand for justice

So far, there are no arrests or clarity about the motive for the crime. Uncertainty and fear are growing among the residents. The community demands justice and effective measures against the violence that threatens border stability.
