Sheinbaum launches 'chocolates del bienestar' and other state brands.

The plan will also focus on the agricultural sectors of corn, coffee, and honey

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced a new project aimed at benefiting both agricultural producers and consumers in the country.

According to the leader from Salvador Escalante, in Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacán, the federal government will begin the production of the so-called "Chocolates del Bienestar".

These chocolates will be made with Mexican cocoa and distributed through the new Tiendas del Bienestar.

This program will be managed by María Luisa Albores, former Secretary of Environment and current head of Wellbeing.

She is also the one who will lead the merger of Seguridad Alimentaria Mexicana (Segalmex) and Diconsa, two key entities in the strategy.

According to the information provided, the project won't be limited to chocolate. It will also include the purchase and commercialization of other agricultural products such as corn, coffee, and honey, which will be acquired directly from farmers at fair prices.

The main objective of the initiative is to ensure affordable food for the population while eliminating intermediaries who often increase product prices.

During her speech, Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that the cocoa will be high-quality chocolate and sold at affordable prices in the Tiendas del Bienestar.

According to the Mexican president, this model will allow producers to receive fair payment for their crops, while consumers will be able to purchase quality products at reasonable prices.

"Cocoa will be purchased from Mexican producers and 'Chocolates del Bienestar' will be sold in the Tiendas del Bienestar. So that there is well-made, well-crafted chocolate, with affordable prices for the people as well", stated the president.

In addition to cocoa, the program includes the purchase of corn, coffee, and honey, which will be collected and later distributed through the same chain.

This strategy aims to combat intermediaries, a practice that, according to Sheinbaum, "buys very cheap and sells expensive". The leader stated that the goal is to benefit both producers and consumers.

However, this program would join other failures of the 4T, such as SEGALMEX, Gas Bienestar, and public works. Currently, Michoacán is one of the entities most affected by organized crime and extortion.
