The average was 64 homicides per day, according to preliminary data from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection.

February, the month of love, is tinged with red, but with blood. The first week started with an alarming trend of rising homicides.

In the first seven days of the month, 450 people were murdered in the country. This equates to an average of 64 homicides daily, according to figures from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).

February 5, the day of the commemoration of the 1917 Constitution, has been the most violent so far. There were 76 murders in just 24 hours. It is followed by February 2 with 71 victims and February 7 with 70 homicides, according to the daily count of the SSPC.

Tabasco and the criminal dispute

Tabasco ranks second on the list with 40 homicides in one week. Violence has intensified due to the internal rupture in the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the expansion of the criminal cell "La Barredora".

Last Tuesday, a riot in the Villahermosa prison left at least seven dead. Among the inmates is Carlos Tomás "N", alias "Lic Tomasín", alleged leader of "La Barredora".

Additionally, on Thursday an armed commando killed three police officers in the municipality of Queréndaro, Michoacán. The information was confirmed by state authorities.

A country mired in violence

Violence in Mexico has reached unprecedented levels since Morena came to power. The country has never been as bloody as it is now.

The government boasts a security strategy, but the results show otherwise. The capture of low-profile criminals hasn't managed to reduce crime.

The worst start of a presidential term in history

So far in the term of the first female president of Mexico, more than 5,000 murders have been recorded. It is the worst start of a presidential term in the country's history.

The most violent presidential terms have been governed by Morena. If the party continues in power, the situation won't change.

A country can't be transformed if the same people always govern.
