National Government accepts a request to implement a prison in Salinas

The National Government has accepted the invitation of the Autonomous Decentralized Government (GAD) of Salinas to carry out a maximum security prison infrastructure project in the canton.

This decision is part of the strategy to strengthen citizen security and promote the economic development of the region.

Through an official statement, the GAD of Salinas highlighted the Government's willingness to work together on the implementation of this project. Initially, it will be prioritized for economic development and security in the Archidona canton.

The new maximum security prison will be located in a strategic point that will be defined in coordination with local authorities. Furthermore, according to this medium, it won't be a "megaprison."

The project aims to improve the infrastructure of the current Archidona prison, which is minimum security and has deficiencies in its infrastructure. The prison will be upgraded to the extent of its capabilities.

Meanwhile, the new detention center in Salinas will focus on the security and rehabilitation of inmates. This space will have standards in line with the policies of the National Comprehensive Security Plan.

The Ministry of Government supported the decision of the GAD of Salinas. It also highlighted the importance of collaborating in the fight against insecurity, drug trafficking, and mafias.
