The Toachi Pilatón Hydroelectric Plant will be 100% operational in January 2025.
The synchronization of turbines is progressing and will contribute 254.4 MW to the national system.
The Government announced that the Toachi Pilatón hydroelectric plant will reach full operation in January 2025. It will be after starting the synchronization of the first turbine of the Alluriquín plant on December 16. With this first unit in operation, the national interconnected system will receive 68 megawatts of power.
The acting Minister of Energy, Inés Manzano, detailed that the other two turbines, initially planned to start operation in February. Additionally, they will be operational by the end of December and January.

This will allow the complex to contribute a total of 254.4 megawatts to the country's electrical system.
The Russian contractor Tyazhmash, in charge of the project, has accelerated the work to meet the deadlines. Azat Satikov, representative of Tyazhmash, assured that the technicians have worked tirelessly for more than 25 days to meet the goal.

The project, which has been under construction for more than 14 years, has involved an investment of about USD 1 billion. The plant, located on the western slope of the country, will complement others like Coca Codo Sinclair, especially when the latter has low flow.
With the completion of this project, the Government reaffirms its commitment to the country's energy reactivation and the diversification of the electrical matrix.
