Million-dollar investment: the Government gave the go-ahead to the Santa Elena-La Libertad-Salinas lateral step
This project required an investment of 27 million dollars and benefits for more than 100,000 inhabitants in Santa Elena.
The Government of President Daniel Noboa officially inaugurated the Santa Elena-La Libertad-Salinas bypass. It is a strategic project that aims to optimize transportation, reduce travel times, and promote tourism and the local economy.
With an investment exceeding 27 million dollars, the flexible pavement road features four expedited lanes. It has a total length of 21.65 kilometers (13.46 miles), divided into two sections: the first of 14.5 kilometers (9.01 miles) and the second of 7.15 kilometers (4.44 miles).

The project was finally delivered on December 30, 2024, by the Ministry of Public Works. It had remained unfinished and stalled for nearly two years.
It is estimated that more than 100,000 residents of Santa Elena, La Libertad, and Salinas will directly benefit from this road artery. Additionally, this project caused around 900 jobs during its construction.

The bypass connects Santa Elena with key locations such as El Tambo, La Libertad, Muey, and Salinas, establishing itself as a vital axis for tourism and productivity.
According to the Ministry, this road will be essential for significantly reducing tourists' travel times during the New Year's holiday and peak seasons.
