The terrorist group Hamas released Iair Horn, the Argentine-Israeli hostage

He was kidnapped on October 7, 2023, in Kibbutz Nir Oz along with his brother Eitan, who remains in captivity.

The Israeli of Argentine origin Iair Horn, 46 years old, and his brother Eitan, 38, were living in the Nir Oz kibbutz when they were kidnapped on October 7, the same day the Islamic terrorists of Hamas stormed into southern Israel from the Gaza Strip.

During the bloody attack, they devastated entire communities, took over military bases, and killed hundreds of young people at the Nova music festival.

Iair, born in Israel but raised in Argentina, was released today along with two other hostages. A fan of Atlanta, like his brother, he attended primary school at Francisco Desiderio Herrera public school, continued secondary education at Scholem Aleijem in Villa Crespo, and then specialized in radio production at ETER.

At 22 years old, in October 2000, he decided to emigrate to Israel to escape the economic crisis affecting Argentina at that time. Shortly after, his brother followed the same path.

"He was in Israel for about five years and returned to Argentina. He was in the country for about five years, more or less, and returned. He's been settled there again for 10, 12 years," a person close to the family told Infobae.

At the end of November 2023, around 200 family members, friends, and former classmates paid tribute to the Horn brothers at their old school in Villa Crespo.

Both were part of Nofesh, a group of young Jews belonging to Habonim Dror, whose leadership inaugurated a mural in the neighborhood to demand their release. Additionally, at the group's headquarters, they displayed a flag with the phrase: "Gordos, we're still looking for you".

"He lived in the kibbutz for many years because it was a lifestyle he liked; the countryside, the solitude, the tranquility of living in an agricultural community. He was in charge of a pub, played music, and organized parties, very much in line with his personality," said Gustavo Rapaporte, a childhood friend of "Iao". The Horn brothers' parents also reside in Israel, although the family maintains ties with relatives in Argentina.

After Iair's release, his younger brother remains in captivity. "Ruth (the mother) always had the certainty that both were alive. Always, in the worst moment. For a long time, there was no information, and that's what she always conveyed, even though the situation with Eitan is still unclear," he added.
