The Lawyer Who Reported Milei in the United States Was Arrested for Extortion in 2011.

This is about Mariano Moyano Rodríguez, who was involved in a 70 million dollar extortion against a company.

The lawyer Mariano Adalberto Moyano Rodríguez, who filed the complaint in the United States against President Javier Milei for the publication about the cryptocurrency $LIBRA, was arrested in Paraguay in September 2011, accused of extorting the renowned cattle businesswoman Maris Llorens along with two other attorneys.

At that time, it emerged that the detainees—Christiane Lucien Llorens, the businesswoman's stepdaughter; Mariano Moyano Rodríguez, and the Paraguayan lawyers Laura Margarita Pangrazio and Fidel Osvaldo Trigo Granada—demanded a payment of 70 million dollars from Llorens to not disclose compromising information about her past or damage her reputation.

The arrests took place in a notary's office located on Senador Long Street in Asunción, in an operation led by prosecutors Casse Evelyn Giménez Jiménez and Arnaldo Giuzzio, who were in charge of the case investigation.

The extortion scheme

According to prosecutor Casse Giménez at the time, the extortion scheme began on August 4, 2011, when Christiane Lucien Llorens, with Moyano's collaboration, initiated a series of threats directed at her stepmother, Maris Llorens.

The defendants allegedly sent emails and letters to the businesswoman, which included extortionate warnings, hinting at connections with journalists both local and international.

Among the threats mentioned in the case, the accused indicated that they were conducting an investigation into the origin of the funds used by Maris Llorens in her businesses, which could link her to alleged cases of "money laundering."

Additionally, the prosecutors indicated that they also alluded to supposed "irregularities" in the succession process of Gilbert Llorens, the businesswoman's husband, who lost his life in a plane crash in 2000 in Tacuatí.

According to the prosecution, the group of lawyers also attempted to damage Maris Llorens's image by sending defamatory emails to members of the Paraguayan Rural Association (ARP) and agricultural producers in Argentina.

Meanwhile, the Paraguayan lawyers Laura Pangrazio and Fidel Trigo, who allegedly operated under Mariano Moyano's orders, actively participated in the extortion scheme, acting as collaborators within the illicit operation.

Meanwhile, Moyano Rodríguez is part of various professional organizations, including the Banking Law Committee of the Public Bar Association of the Federal Capital, the Banking and Securities Regulation Committee of the National Bar Association of Argentina, and the American Bar Association.

Additionally, he is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and holds accreditation as a Registered Representative of the New York Stock Exchange.
