Kicillof's Government Was Sending Food to a Fraudulent Cooperative in Mar Del Plata

A shed was found with more than a ton of non-perishable food that came from the Buenos Aires government.

In a new conflict between the Province of Buenos Aires and the city of Mar del Plata, Mayor Guillermo Montenegro denounced this Thursday that the ultra-Kirchnerist governor Axel Kicillof was delivering food to "a cooperative that doesn't legally exist" after a raid on a warehouse where those responsible "couldn't justify the stockpiling" of goods.

During an operation carried out by the Federal Police in conjunction with the General Inspection of the Municipality of General Pueyrredón, a warehouse was found with more than a ton of non-perishable food that came from the Buenos Aires government.

The products were seized, as a fraudulent cooperative, "nonexistent in the records," was operating at the site, according to the municipality. Municipal authorities reported that the goods had allegedly been sent irregularly and ordered the closure of the site.

After the discovery, Montenegro lashed out at Governor Kicillof through his social media. "We need a lot of clarity on these issues. The times when some cunning individuals use people's needs to squander the resources of all Buenos Aires residents are over," expressed the PRO mayor, who maintains a stance aligned with the national administration of Javier Milei.

Montenegro assured that all the seized goods were left at the disposal of the Justice. In a video posted on his X account, Federal Police officers can be seen inside the warehouse, where large quantities of bags of sugar, wheat flour, polenta, pasta packages, and cans of peaches, among other products, were stored.

Despite the seizure of the goods, the mayor himself emphasized the importance of these resources reaching directly those who need them, without intermediaries. "We will ask the judge to distribute them among the institutions that truly work with vulnerable people," stated Montenegro.

The municipality clarified that before proceeding with any delivery of the seized food, the Bromatology area must verify their condition and ensure they are fit for consumption.

In the presentation made before federal judge Santiago Inchausti, the mayor requested an urgent resolution, arguing that "the food is close to expiring."

Municipal sources cited by the local press indicated that the communal government's intention is to allocate these foods as soon as possible to the residents of El Marquesado, an area where several families lost their homes due to a fire last week.
