An unexpected return of Nicholson
Meanwhile his son Ray Nicholson continues building his career with projects like Smile 2 and Novocaine, Jack Nicholson chose a life away from the spotlight. His last public appearance was in May 2023, when he attended a Los Angeles Lakers game, his favorite team, at the Crypto.com Arena.
In the SNL special, Nicholson introduced Sandler before his performance, recalling how, a decade ago, he also took part in the show's 40th anniversary special. His presence was enthusiastically received by the audience, marking a nostalgic and significant moment for the show's history.

Adam Sandler performed 50 Years,a piece that combined humor and tribute to remember the most iconic moments of Saturday Night Live. The lyrics mentioned anecdotes from the show, reflected on Lorne Michaels's retirement, and even made a joke about discovering that some favorite musicians were anti-Semitic, alluding to Kanye West's visits to the show.
The comedian also dedicated verses to the original SNL cast and legendary figures like Eddie Murphy, Will Forte, and Gilda Radner. The performance concluded with a reference to the show's iconic slogan: "Live from New York, it's Saturday night."

The SNL special featured big names like Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Scarlett Johansson, and Woody Harrelson. Additionally, artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Paul Simon offered musical performances, while Steve Martin handled the opening monologue.
