Amid the Internal Conflict With Cristina, Axel Kicillof Launched His New Political Space

Under the name 'Movimiento Derecho al Futuro' (MDF), the group was introduced through a post on X.

Amid the intense internal tensions with La Cámpora and Cristina Kirchner, the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, launched a new political space this Saturday with the support of numerous Buenos Aires Peronist leaders.

Under the name "Movement Right to the Future" (MDF), the group was presented through a repost on the social network X, where its first foundational document was disseminated.

"Peronism faces a historic challenge: to rebuild itself to lead an alternative to the experiment of adjustment and cruelty being carried out by the National Government of Javier Milei," states the text, which concludes with a call to build "a Peronism that embraces the people and focuses its energies on rebuilding the collective dream of a just, free, and sovereign homeland".

The MDF has the support of key Peronist figures in the province of Buenos Aires, such as mayors Julio Alak (La Plata), Jorge Ferraresi (Avellaneda), Mario Ishii (José C. Paz), Fernando Espinoza (La Matanza), and Mario Secco (Ensenada), among others.

Dozens of legislators also adhere, including Hugo Yaski, Daniel Gollán, and Brenda Duarte. Additionally, the space gains support from social organizations like Somos Barrios de Pie, La Patria es el Otro, and Los Irrompibles, as well as influential unions, including the CGT, the UOM, and the 62 Organizations.

Axel Kicillof is in Mar del Plata, where he traveled to participate in a management activity. His team assured that the Movement Right to the Future (MDF) will remain within Peronism. "It doesn't mean a break nor is it against anyone," affirmed sources close to the provincial leader.

However, the initial manifesto of the MDF raises the need to "update our ideas with a future perspective, without fear of internal debate," in a context where it is essential "to listen, to understand the reasons for our national defeat, to recover the agenda of the majorities, defending everyone's rights". It also states that "it's time to reinvent our historical project".

The relationship between Kicillof and the Cristinista sector is going through a phase of caution. The recent decision by the governor to cancel a series of scheduled events for the coming weeks was interpreted by the other side as an attempt at détente.

In the coming hours, Kicillof will have to decide what to do with the Primaries in the province of Buenos Aires. Nationally, Congress suspended the PASO for this year, leaving the door open for the governor to make a similar decision in the Buenos Aires district.

Another alternative is for the leader to maintain the Primaries and separate the provincial election from the national one. This would allow him to solve his differences with La Cámpora through the polls, allowing the electorate, and not just political negotiation, to determine the course.

"The suspension of Axel's events avoided escalating the internal conflict. But when the new front is officially communicated, the situation will become tense again," evaluated one of the governor's main strategists.

"In recent days, there is a kind of rapprochement operation. It seems logical because the moment of definitions is approaching. From both sides, we have lowered the level of criticism," admitted a prominent leader within Cristinism.
