Ypf Announced a New Drilling Record in Vaca Muerta

In just 24 hours the company reached 1,747 meters (5,732 feet) of lateral branch in an unconventional well.

YPF's president, Horacio Marín, announced yesterday a new record in the drilling of Vaca Muerta. This milestone was established in the La Angostura Sur block, and the company managed to reach 1,747 meters (5,732 feet) of lateral branch in an unconventional well in just 24 hours.

Marín highlighted that this advancement "wouldn't have been possible without the implementation of the most advanced technology in the Real Time Intelligence Center, which optimizes each of our processes in real time."

Under Marín's management, the Argentine oil company is driving a change in its approach to unconventional operations. Its strategy is based on the application of artificial intelligence and real-time data analysis, along with instant decision-making, which significantly improves its performance in gas and oil fields.

YPF's president expressed his recognition to the Upstream team "for their dedication and effort. This result allows us to continue advancing toward a more competitive energy future."

In December, the company presented at its Puerto Madero headquarters the implementation of an innovative drilling system and remote data monitoring. With the ability to measure 60 variables in each of its wells, YPF optimizes its performance in each drilling. The main objective of this initiative is to increase productivity and reduce operational costs.

Through a predictive drilling system, which is based on the analysis of its wells' history, the company selects the best strategies to optimize the development of the extensive lateral branches.

The entire process is supervised from its monitoring center in Buenos Aires, where a team of engineers and specialists maintains real-time communication with the workers in each productive block.

With this technology, YPF not only seeks to improve its competitiveness in the present but also to consolidate itself in a key strategic challenge: the development of the unconventional oil export route and the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG). In this path, the company advances alongside other operators that aspire to position Argentina in the global energy market.
