A Company Will Invest Usd 10 Billion in Green Hydrogen in Milei's Argentina

The project will allow the creation of over a thousand new jobs in Chubut and the development of new technologies.

The governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, and the Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, led a meeting at the Casa Rosada where the leader announced an investment of 10 billion dollars to boost the development of green hydrogen in the Patagonian province.

The meeting was attended by the European Union ambassador, Amador Sánchez Rico, and representatives of Green Capital, the company in charge of the project.

During the meeting, Francos expressed the support of Javier Milei's Government for the approval of the Green Hydrogen Law, a regulatory framework that will encourage the arrival of foreign investments. "This project will allow us to consolidate Chubut's leadership in renewable energies and open new job opportunities for the people of Chubut," Torres highlighted.

The plan, which is part of the European Union's strategy to finance sustainable projects through the Global Gateway program, seeks to establish an ecosystem of green hydrogen production and export, a key resource for the global energy transition.

The governor emphasized the natural and logistical advantages that make the province a strategic destination for these investments. "We have deep-water ports, the best winds in the world, and an extensive territory that positions us at the center of the global clean energy scene," he stated.

In this context, Green Capital Renewable Energy S.A., the Argentine subsidiary of the Polish company Green Capital S.A., presented the project details, which was selected within the European Commission's Global Gateway program.

More employment and development

One of the most notable aspects of the agreement is the creation of over a thousand new jobs in Chubut, related both to the installation of infrastructure and the operation of the production complex. Additionally, the project includes the development of innovative technologies in collaboration with universities and research centers in the country.

"This type of investment allows us to generate genuine employment and position Argentina as a key player in the global energy transition," Torres expressed, emphasizing the urgency of the prompt approval of the Green Hydrogen Law in Congress.

Green hydrogen is considered the fuel of the future, as it allows for the storage and transportation of energy without generating polluting emissions. Its development represents an opportunity for Argentina to diversify its energy matrix and attract foreign investments in a rapidly growing sector.

"For the country to grow, we have to look south. Chubut has everything the European Union needs to invest in renewable energies, and this investment is just the beginning," the governor concluded.
