According to various reports, at least 25 people were injured, of whom 15 are in critical condition with multiple traumas and dismembered limbs, which gives an image of the savagery of the attack carried out.

According to initial reports, a dark or black SUV, apparently traveling at high speed, plowed into several pedestrians on the main shopping street near a carnival market.
It was reported that one person died at the scene, and several others were injured, some with serious injuries. Eyewitnesses, including a reporter from the news agency "DPA," confirmed seeing a body covered with a sheet.

The suspect was detained during a search operation, although it's unclear if other people were involved in the attack. The incident occurs just weeks after a similar attack in Munich, where two people lost their lives in an intentional run-over.
Mannheim police and emergency services replied quickly to the incident, implementing an emergency plan at the University Hospital of Mannheim in anticipation of a mass casualty situation.
Germany's Interior Minister, Nancy Faeser, who was going to participate in a carnival parade in Cologne, canceled her attendance and was informed about the event.

In her statement, a spokesperson for the Interior Ministry emphasized that the priority was the rescue of the victims and the care of the injured, in addition to the initial investigations that are being carried out.
The authorities asked the residents of Mannheim and visitors to avoid the city center area, while a large police presence is maintained and investigations into the circumstances of the incident, which is being investigated as an attack, continue.
