A Norwegian Company Wanted to Boycott the United States, and the Government Denied It.
After the Norwegian company Haltbakk Bunkers announced that it would no longer supply fuel to the U.S. Navy, Norway gave a forceful response
Last Saturday, March 1st, the Norwegian company Haltbakk Bunkersannounced that it would stop supplying oil to United States Navy vessels.
The boycott was announced after Zelenski's visit to the White House, in which President Trump appeared firm in the face of the Ukrainian's constant disrespect.
The Norwegian company declared that the measure taken by them would extend to all the country's ports, as a response of dissatisfaction with American attitudes.

However, Norway has assured that it will continue to supply fuel to United States Navy ships, even though the private fuel supply company threatened to boycott the U.S. Navy in response to tensions in U.S.-Ukraine relations.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Norwegian Defense Minister, Tore Sandvik, clarified that the Norwegian government has no plans to alter its policy of support for the U.S. armed forces. "We have seen reports raising concerns about support for United States Navy ships in Norway.
''This is not in line with the Norwegian government's policy," Sandvik stated. "U.S. forces will continue to receive the supply and support they require from Norway," he added, thus reassuring those who feared a disruption in fuel supply.

The controversy began when Haltbakk Bunkers, posted on social media a message expressing their outrage at how Zelenski had been treated during his visit to the White House.
The company described the meeting as a "backstabbing spectacle" and announced that it would stop supplying fuel to the United States Navy.
"Great credit to the President of Ukraine for staying calm, even though the United States offered a humiliating spectacle. It made us feel nauseous... No more fuel for the Americans!" the message said, which was later deleted.

The company's CEO, Gunnar Gran, confirmed to a Norwegian newspaper that the company had decided not to supply fuel to the U.S. Navy anymore, however, he indicated that this measure would have a "symbolic" impact given that the company doesn't have a fixed contract with the U.S. government.
Therefore, their decision would not significantly affect U.S. Navy operations.
The situation has also highlighted the influence of private companies on foreign policy decisions, as Haltbakk Bunkers's threat, although symbolic, reflects existing tensions over Norway's stance on supporting U.S. interests in the region.

However, the Norwegian government made it clear that its support for the United States Navy will not be affected by the stance of a private company.
This episode underscores the impact that personal and diplomatic relationships between world leaders can have on countries' policies, as well as showing how international events can influence the decisions of private actors.
