After Sebastián Domínguez's Departure: Who Takes Over at Vélez?
The now former coach of Fortín stepped aside after the home defeat against Huracán.
The former ESPN panelist, who had been breaking all possible negative records, put an end to his stay at Fortín and submitted his resignation after the 2-0 defeat against Huracán on matchday 8 of the Torneo Apertura.
The coach was living a true nightmare with the Liniers team, recording the worst tournament start for a reigning champion with 8 matches without a victory (surpassing the records of San Lorenzo in 1975, Newell's in 1992, Independiente in 2003, and Argentinos Juniors in 2010 with 7) and the second worst start without a goal for a first division teamwith 770 consecutive minutes without scoring, among many other negative records.
Due to this poor performance, and considering that the situation was unsustainable for any team, especially for one that had just won the Argentine championship 3 months ago, the members of Fortín's Board of Directors and Sebastián Domínguez himself decided to end the relationship between the coach and Vélez.
Meanwhile, as the club searches for a new head coach, Marcelo Bravo, the current Reserve team coach, will take charge of the first team on an interim basis and will lead the next match against San Martín de San Juan at the Amalfitani.

The Possible Replacements:
The main candidate to take the position is Julio César Falcioni. ElFacha is a historic goalkeeper and coach of the club, and he is currently without a club after managing Banfield for the fifth time. His strong identification with the club and his extensive experience in Argentine football make him the safest option so far.
More names that are being considered as alternatives include Sebastián Méndez, who saved Vélez from relegation in 2023 after going to a play-off match with Colón de Santa Fe and maintains a close relationship with the club, Gabriel Milito, who recently reached the Copa Libertadores final with Atlético Mineiro, and Hernán Crespo, who had already been mentioned as a replacement for the previous coach Gustavo Quinteros.
Another name that was circulating was Carlos Tevez, who had positive performances with Rosario Central and Independiente, but he was ruled out by the board.
