An Islamic Attack in Israel Left One Dead and Several Injured in the City of Haifa.

A terrorist attack occurred at the HaMifratz central train and bus station in the city of Haifa, in northern Israel, where a 65-year-old man was killed and four other people were injured.

According to reports, the striker was shot by security guards at the scene. The fatal victim was a 65-year-old man, while the other victims, including a 15-year-old boy, a man and a woman around 30 years old, were in serious condition. A 70-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries.

The police identified the striker as an Israeli Druze man from the city of Shfaram, who had recently returned from abroad. This type of attack perpetrated by a member of the Druze community in Israel is rare.

The Druze are an ethnic and religious group with a faith that is a branch of Shia Islam, and approximately 150,000 Druze live in Israel and the Golan Heights, representing about 1.5% of Israel's population.

Witnesses reported that the striker arrived by bus in Haifa from Shfaram, a town located about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) from Haifa.

Upon arriving at the station, he began stabbing bus passengers, and then continued his attack in the station lobby. Local authorities and emergency teams replied quickly to the incident.

The emergency service Magen David Adom (MDA) described the attack as severe. At 9:53 a.m. on Monday, they received a report about the stabbing at the station, which prompted an immediate response with ambulances and mobile intensive care units.

MDA teams were trying to save the lives of the injured, but one of them, the 65-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene due to penetrating wounds. The other injured were taken to Rambam Hospital for treatment.

The police treated the incident as a terrorist attack, and the striker was neutralized by a security guard and a civilian at the scene. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his condolences to the family of the murdered man and reiterated Israel's commitment to fight against those who seek to destroy the country.

In a statement, Netanyahu assured that they would continue to combat those responsible for these attacks.

Although there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, Hamas described it as "heroic" and considered it a "natural response" to what they incorrectly labeled as ''Israeli crimes against Palestinians''.

This attack occurred amid rising tensions between Hamas and Israel, with a stalemate in negotiations over extending a ceasefire agreement that had been in place for six weeks.

Israel suspended the entry of aid to Gaza after Hamas rejected a United States proposal to extend the initial phase of the agreement.

The incident underscores the vulnerability of the population in public and transportation areas when it comes to savage Islamic attacks. The Druze community in Israel, although historically considered loyal to the Israeli state, faces internal and identity challenges that could contribute to such events.
