Tragic Outcome: Lluvia Yareni, Missing Girl in Puebla, Found Dead
His body was found buried in his own house; his mother and stepfather, detained
Huauchinango, Puebla, February 18, 2025. The case of Lluvia Yareni, the 8-year-old girl reported missing in November 2024, had a heartbreaking outcome. Her body was found last weekend buried in the yard of her own home.
Since her disappearance, the girl's mother and stepfather claimed that the girl had left home and never returned. However, after months of searching, the investigation took an unexpected turn when contradictions in the family members' testimonies were discovered.
The first reports and suspicions
Lluvia Yareni was last seen on November 9, 2024, when she supposedly left her home in the La Mesita neighborhood in Huauchinango and disappeared without a trace.
The State Attorney General's Office of Puebla (FGE) activated an Amber Alert to expedite her location. Operations were carried out, and family members and neighbors were interviewed in search of clues.
However, as days passed, the versions of the mother and stepfather began to raise suspicions. While they insisted on not knowing the girl's whereabouts, neighbors reported strange behaviors inside the house.
Contradictions that led to the discovery
As the investigation progressed, agents found inconsistencies in the statements of the mother and stepfather. On several occasions, they changed their version of events and avoided answering key questions.
Additionally, some witnesses claimed to have heard screams and blows inside the house in the weeks leading up to Lluvia Yareni's disappearance. Others noted that shortly after the report, they saw the family members removing soil in the backyard.
With this information, the FGE ordered a new inspection of the home, using canine units trained in the search for human remains.
Gruesome discovery in the backyard
Last Saturday, forensic experts conducted excavations in the house's yard. After several hours of work, they found the girl's remains buried at a shallow depth.
The preliminary forensic report revealed that Lluvia Yareni's body showed signs of violence. Although the exact causes of her death have not yet been determined, authorities are investigating the case as a possible infanticide.
The discovery sparked a wave of outrage on social media. Thousands of people are demanding justice and exemplary punishment for those responsible.
Mother and stepfather arrested
Following the discovery, the State Attorney General's Office arrested the girl's mother and stepfather, who were taken to the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Both are being investigated for forced disappearance and infanticide. If their responsibility is confirmed, they could face sentences of up to 70 years in prison.
Meanwhile, the community of Huauchinango demands that this crime not go unpunished.
