The New Right Continues to Rise Around the World. What About Mexico?
The rise of the new right in the world is noticeable but what is happening in Mexico?
The United States, Italy, El Salvador, Argentina, Paraguay, Ecuador, Hungary, the Netherlands, and Germany have shifted to the "New Right" in recent times.
Since Donald Trump's victory in 2016, this movement has been on the rise, and in every election that has taken place in the West, they have achieved favorable results.
All of this is because the far left has wrapped itself in the flag of progressivism and globalism with agendas that threaten the sovereignty of nation-states.
They have been promoting gender ideology, radical feminism, illegal migration, disdain for the middle classes, and advocate for Agenda 2030.
This last one with the aim of a supranational organization taking control of nation-states and directing the lives of their citizens.
Not to mention that in every country where they have governed, they leave disastrous results, from Soviet Russia, through Mao Zedong's China, to Cuba, Venezuela, and Kirchnerist Argentina.
Birth of the New Right
For this reason, in the last decade, the New Right movement emerged, so named by political scientist Agustín Laje since Trump first came to power.
This movement is not only represented by Donald Trump. It also includes other prominent figures like Nayib Bukele, Javier Milei, Elon Musk, Giorgia Meloni, Santiago Abascal, Alice Weidel, Viktor Orbán, and Jair Bolsonaro.
They all have in common the fight against statism, socialism, illegal immigration, feminism, gender ideology, and Agenda 2030.
Betting on the sovereignty of their countries, the defense of life, freedoms, private property, and the traditional family.
Causing sectors of the population in their respective countries to be captivated, who previously did not align with the old center-rights.
Is there a New Right in Mexico?
In Mexico, the outlook looks bleak. After the overwhelming victory by Morena in the past 2024 elections, it became clear that there is no real opposition to the officialdom.
Traditional political parties like PRI, PAN, and MC have only served as stooges to Morena.
An example is the "PRIANRD" alliance, where they chose as a candidate an indigenous, Marxist, Trotskyist, feminist, and pro-gender ideology woman.
Characteristics that historically represent the left, and in this case, were those of the "opposition" candidate with which they "competed" against the officialdom.
However, not all is lost.
A new hope
There is still hope. Last January, the INE received all the applications from civil organizations seeking to become political parties.
Among them, the Viva Mexico Movement, led by film producer and pro-life activist Eduardo Verástegui.
This organization seeks to become the real right-wing party that is missing in Mexico, to now have a firm opposition to the officialdom.
A party that dignifies life, freedoms, private property, and the traditional family, but also stands with the most needy classes in the country.
Pending the INE giving the green light to his project, Eduardo Verástegui remains a relevant figure in the political arena.
More recently, he was in Washington as a speaker at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, held in the U.S.
He also conducted a world tour to combat child trafficking, signing agreements with other presidents to prevent and solve this issue.
