Starlink Significantly Reduces Its Prices in Mexico

Elon Musk's satellite internet service lowers its rates by up to 65% in the country.

Mexico City, February 27, 2025. Starlink, the satellite internet company owned by Elon Musk, has announced a reduction of up to 65% in its rates for Mexico.

This measure aims to expand its user base and offer high-speed connectivity throughout the national territory.

Rate reduction and new plans

Since its arrival in Mexico in 2021, Starlink has offered a high-speed internet alternative, especially in rural and hard-to-reach areas.

With the recent price decrease, the standard home service has dropped from costing more than 2,000 pesos per month to less than 1,000 pesos.

Additionally, the cost of the equipment necessary for installation has been reduced to 8,300 pesos, including the antenna and installation kit.

This strategy aims to make the service more accessible to a greater number of Mexicans.

Impact in major cities

Despite the price reduction, Starlink has reached its maximum capacity in cities like Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara.

This indicates high demand and acceptance of the service in urban areas, where competition with traditional providers is more intense.

The company is working on expanding its infrastructure to meet the growing demand in these metropolises.

Options for business users

For businesses and users with greater bandwidth requirements, Starlink offers a priority service with a monthly cost of 3,170 pesos.

This plan is designed to ensure a more stable connection and higher speeds, suitable for critical operations and companies that depend on constant connectivity.

Refurbished equipment: an economical alternative

In addition to the reduction in plan costs, Starlink has introduced the option to purchase refurbished equipment with a 40% discount, bringing the final price to 4,980 pesos.

These devices come with the same warranty and functionality as new ones, offering a more economical alternative for those looking to minimize their initial investment.

Expansion and future challenges

With this aggressive pricing strategy, Starlink seeks to establish itself as a viable option against traditional internet providers in Mexico.

However, the company faces significant challenges, such as service saturation in urban areas and the need to expand its satellite network to maintain service quality.

The market response and the actions of the competition will be decisive in the success of this initiative.
