'El Teléfono de Villavicencio' steals personal data and is allegedly linked with hackers

In recent days, a website called "El Teléfono de Villavicencio" has caused controversy and concern.  It claims to contain alleged leaked chats of the deceased presidential candidateFernando Villavicencio. According to reports, this platform not only spreads questionable information, but also steals personal data from those who access it.

Initially, it was claimed that the page might have been created by students from the Universidad Central del Ecuador. However, preliminary investigations have debunked this version, indicating that the site was developed in Iceland by a company linked to international hackers.

Sources close to the matter claim that behind this operation is former president Rafael Correa. The former leader allegedly ordered the creation of the page as part of a strategy to discredit the late Villavicencio and his political legacy.

Cybersecurity experts warn that by entering the site, users risk compromising the security of their devices, exposing sensitive information such as passwords, banking data, and personal files.

Allies of Fernando Villavicencio have strongly condemned the existence of this page,  calling it an attack on his memory and a threat to the security of citizens.

"This type of practice not only seeks to tarnish the reputation of someone who dedicated his life to fighting for the truth". But "also represents a serious danger to people's privacy", stated a close collaborator of the former candidate.

Authorities have launched investigations to determine the exact origin of the page and take appropriate legal action. Meanwhile, citizens are advised to avoid entering the site and not to provide personal information on any platform that is not trustworthy.
