Azogues strengthens social programs with an agreement with MIES and Municipal Social Action
The agreement will ensure care for the elderly and disabled, while promoting the 'Azogues Humana' project.
The President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa visited the city of Azogues on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He did so as part of the signing of an inter-institutional agreement between Municipal Social Action and the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES).
This agreement aims to ensure the continuity of social projects aimed at priority care groups in the canton.
The agreement will allow essential services to remain operational, such as home care for elderly people with disabilities. This program covers six care units with direct coverage for 390 users and an indirect impact on more than 2,000 families.

For its execution, MIES will contribute 87,018.70 dollars, while the mayor's office will contribute 932.52 dollars during the 11 months of the project's duration.
The mayor of Azogues, Javier Serrano highlighted the importance of this agreement as part of the "Azogues Humana" program, which will be the central axis of social projects for the next year. This ambitious plan will focus on promoting citizen security. It also seeks to protect the rights of the most vulnerable, eradicate child labor, and prevent violence against women and girls.
"This agreement is a demonstration of our commitment to those who need it most. In Azogues, we work for the well-being of our elderly, people with disabilities, and vulnerable groups. With 'Azogues Humana,' we project a future full of hope for our city", said Mayor Serrano.

2025 has been declared the "Year of Great Works" in Azogues, and with this agreement, the mayor's office reaffirms its commitment to prioritizing social development.
Through resource management and strategic alliances, such as the one signed with MIES, the aim is to consolidate a comprehensive approach that promotes well-being. It also seeks to promote the protection of the rights of the most vulnerable citizens.
This agreement marks a new chapter in the joint efforts between the National Government and the municipal administration, strengthening the foundations of a more inclusive and humane Azogues.
