Thanks to Milei, Poverty in Argentina Decreases at a Rate of 25,000 People Per Day.
Under President Javier Milei's administration, around 10 million Argentinians emerged from poverty.
The poverty rate in Argentina dropped drastically to 33.5% in January 2025, marking a significant decrease from the 52.9% recorded at the beginning of 2024, when Javier Milei assumed the presidency and avoided what could have been the worst crisis in the country's history.
This change means that around 10 million Argentinians have risen out of poverty, which equates to a reduction of nearly 25,000 people per day under the administration of Milei.
It is an unprecedented improvement that explains the high support for Javier Milei's Government, despite having implemented the largest fiscal and monetary adjustment in history, with a cut of 90 billion dollars in less than three months.

To consolidate its success in reducing poverty, President Milei's Government maintained a disinflation strategy based on two main pillars: the elimination of the fiscal deficit and the elimination of money issuance.
Thanks to this policy, monthly inflation dropped from 25% at the start of the term to approximately 2%, according to Econométrica's projection for February 2025. At the same time, wages have been increasing for nine consecutive months above the price index, thus strengthening the economic recovery process.
Gradually, activity indicators in key sectors are beginning to more concretely show the positive impact that economic recovery is having on the daily lives of Argentinians.

A clear example is seen in the real estate market: in 2024, the number of registered sales deeds in Buenos Aires was around 7,700, a number much higher than the range of between 3,000 and 4,600 annual operations recorded between 2018 and 2023.
Something similar is happening in the automotive industry, where the elimination of taxes and various levies allowed for a 33% reduction in the real cost of acquiring a new vehicle. This change significantly boosted sector sales, with a growth of up to 65% in the first weeks of 2025.
