Let Him Return When He Wants Peace: Trump Pressured Zelensky to End the War

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has made his stance clear regarding the war in Ukraine: it's time to negotiate and end a conflict that threatens to escalate to unsustainable levels.

During a meeting with Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, at the White House, Trump emphasized the need for commitments to achieve peace, assuring that Ukraine is not in a favorable position to continue with the military confrontation.

As a result of the unproductive meeting, the American president canceled the press conference and expressed himself on social media regarding the matter:"He feels that our involvement gives him a great advantage in negotiations. I don't want advantages, I want PEACE. He can return when he's ready for peace."

Trump's pragmatism toward the war in Ukraine

In a frank exchange, Trump and Vice President JD Vance urged Zelensky to appreciate the support received from the United States and to consider the geopolitical reality. "You're not in a good position right now," Trump warned, pointing out that prolonging the war only risks global stability. Additionally, he made it clear that the U.S.  will not continue funding a conflict without a clear resolution horizon: "You have to make a deal or we're out."

Far from an intransigent position, Trump emphasized that any peace agreement will involve concessions, but these should not be disproportionate. "No deal can be made without compromises," he stated, highlighting that his administration seeks a fair solution for all parties involved.

"This deal would be very fair," Trump assured, highlighting the possibility of the U.S. contributing sustainably to Ukraine's recovery.

The future of the U.S.-Russia relationship

Another key point of Trump's stance is his intention to redefine the United States' relationship with Russia, moving away from a policy of permanent confrontation. In this regard, his recent conversation with Vladimir Putin and the meeting of U.S. officials with Russian representatives in Saudi Arabia demonstrate an interest in finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict, without excluding Ukraine but without conditioning peace to external interests.

Additionally, Trump has been clear regarding Ukraine's integration into NATO, stating that "it can forget about joining" the alliance, a declaration that, far from being a concession to Moscow, seeks to avoid unnecessary escalation that could drag all of Europe into a larger confrontation.
