Leasing Grew 121% in the Number of Financed Goods and Set a Record Since 2017.
The growth of leasing was mainly driven by the demand from SMEs.
The leasing sector in Argentina closed 2024 with historic growth, reaching in the second half of the year the highest number of operations since 2017. During this period, the number of activated assets increased by 121% year-on-year, totaling 14,034 assets, while the annual total rose to 19,438 units.
Meanwhile, the leasing portfolio balance of the companies in the sector stood at $540 billion in December, which represented a 59% real growth compared to June.
Key growth factors
According to Nicolás Scioli, vice president of Leasing Argentina, "the strong growth of leasing in 2024 is largely explained by the conditions of stability, lower inflation, better expectations and, simultaneously, more supply from the lessors in a new Argentina that enables companies to invest in capital goods without affecting their liquidity."
This remarkable performance not only consolidated leasing as a key financing tool but also contributed to the creation of approximately 10,100 direct jobs in the country.

Sector participation
The growth of leasing was mainly driven by the demand from SMEs, which represented 46.22% of the total portfolio balance.
Large companies also had a significant participation, reaching 46.18%, while the demand from the public sector and individuals remained at moderate levels.
Fund distribution
The allocation of funds in leasing was distributed as follows:
- Transport and logistics equipment: 64% of the portfolio balance.
- Technology and telecommunications assets: 15%.
- Construction machinery: 11%.
- Industry and agricultural machinery: 8%.
Ramiro Baré, president of Leasing Argentina, highlighted that "during the past year, clear signs of recovery have been seen due to the increased demand for long-term financing for the acquisition of transport and logistics equipment. Additionally, in this scenario, employment and growth are boosted, with a central role of SMEs."

Prospects for leasing in Argentina
Throughout 2024, leasing was consolidated as a key driver in the country's economic reactivation, allowing companies from various sectors to access financing to expand without affecting their liquidity.
With a diversified and constantly growing portfolio, this tool reaffirms itself as a strategic pillar for Argentine economic development.
