Car Sales Grew by 71.3% Year-on-year and It's the Best Start to the Year Since 2018.

In the first two months of 2025, 112,396 new vehicle registrations were recorded.

Amid a strong economic recovery achieved by the Government of Javier Milei, the vehicle registration record showed a year-on-year increase of 71.3% in February, reaching a total of 42,918 units.

This growth makes it the best start of the year since 2018, according to the report by the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA).

The growth in February compared to the same month last year represented an increase of 24,868 units compared to the 25,050 sold in 2023. Although, if the monthly performance is analyzed, a drop of 38.2% is observed, since 69,478 vehicles were registered in January, there was still a strong vehicle sale.

Despite the monthly decrease, the sector shows a notable progress in the accumulated of the year. In the first two months of 2024, 112,396 vehicles were registered, which is equivalent to a rise of 99.8% compared to the same period in 2023, when 56,265 units were registered.

The head of ACARA, Sebastián Beato, highlighted that "February continues with the good growth pace of January, which shows the best start of the year since 2018, driven by the tax reduction in recent months and an increasingly wide offer from brands."

He also emphasized that "the downward pressure on prices brought many people to our stores and that is always positive, now we have the challenge of offering them convenient options to complete the transactions."

In this context, he expressed his confidence that "this upward market inertia will surely join us in the coming months, in a context that remains challenging, and this is very promising for the sector's dynamics and predictability."
