Inflation continues to decrease and the increase in the basic basket was only 0.9%

This process of inflationary deceleration is key and reflects the success of President Javier Milei's government.

Thanks to the enormous work of the Government of Javier Milei, in January 2025, inflation in Argentina stood at 2.2%, recording its lowest value since July 2020. This represents a notable deceleration compared to the 20.6% recorded in January 2024, during the economic crisis inherited from Kirchnerism.

According to the report from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec), inflation in the first month of the year rose to 2.2%, evidencing the enormous deceleration compared to the beginning of last year, when the Kirchnerist government of Alberto Fernández and Sergio Massa left the country on the brink of hyperinflation and the worst crisis in history.

This data contrasts massively with the inflation of the former Minister of Economy, which in January 2025 was 20.6%, 9 times greater than that recorded this month, under Milei's Government.

Among the different divisions of the economy, it is important to highlight "Food and non-alcoholic beverages," which registered an increase of only 1.8%, a figure lower than the "crawling peg" of 2%. This, in other words, means that there was actually deflation in that sector.

Another important news is that the Total Basic Basket, which measures the poverty line, had an increase of only 0.9%. In the same vein, the Basic Food Basket, which measures the indigence line, increased by 0.9%, the lowest value in recent years.

This process of inflationary deceleration is key and reflects the success of President Javier Milei's Government. Since the assumption of his administration in December 2023, the economy has shown significant progress.

During the worst part of the "Massazo," the economic crisis left by Kirchnerism, January's inflation had reached an alarming 20.6%, reflecting the critical situation inherited.

However, thanks to the measures implemented by Milei and his economic team, a remarkable deceleration in inflation rates was achieved throughout the year. Monthly records continued to decrease: 13.2% in February, 11% in March, 8.8% in April, 4.2% in May, 4.6% in June, 4% in July, 4.2% in August, 3.5% in September, 2.7% in October, and months later, we reached 2.2% in January 2025.

The fiscal and monetary policies of the libertarian administration, which focused on the elimination of the fiscal deficit, zero issuance, and the adjustment of public spending, while implementing structural reforms, were essential to avoiding hyperinflation and achieving a drastic drop in inflation.

The Government's work allowed that, in 2024, wages exceeded inflation, which translates into an increase in the purchasing power of Argentine workers. INDEC data shows that wages have accumulated more than 9 months of real growth, surpassing price increases.

President Javier Milei's management achieved unbelievable results in the fight against inflation, laying the foundation for sustained economic growth, increasing the population's well-being.
