The government intervened OSPRERA and announced it will stop providing hormone therapy to minors
The social work adheres to Decree 62/2025, which restricts gender adjustment medical interventions in minors.
The government of Javier Milei established that minors under 18 years old will not be able to access hormonal treatments or gender change surgeries.
The measure aims to protect the physical and emotional integrity of minors. The goal is to avoid irreversible decisions without full maturity.

OSPRERA adapts to the new regulations
The Social Work of Rural Personnel and Dock Workers of the Argentine Republic (OSPRERA) confirmed that it will not initiate new hormonal treatments.
However, ongoing cases will be evaluated by the medical body to analyze the criteria on a case-by-case basis.
OSPRERA's stance
From the intervened social work, led by Marcelo Petroni, they indicated that the decision follows what is established by the decree.

A report from the National Directorate of Comprehensive Mental Health Approach indicates that minors don't have sufficient maturity to decide.
A change in public health
With this decision, OSPRERA is the first social work to adhere to the new regulations.
The Milei government promotes this policy within the framework of the review of the Gender Identity Law. Its goal is to protect minors and regulate these treatments.
