La Tora Villar's struggle confessed the difficult moment she's experiencing: 'I can't breathe'

The former Big Brother participant revealed that she deprives herself of many things because she can't control her anxiety.

Lucila "La Tora" Villar  shared in a recent interview her difficult battle against social phobia,  a condition that deprives her of everyday experiences and limits her personal life. The former participant of Gran Hermano revealed how social anxiety deeply affects her activities and her relationship with her surroundings, forcing her to avoid crowded situations and places.

The social anxiety that conditions her daily life

La Tora explained that her social phobia prevents her from doing many activities. She avoids public places and feels unable to move alone without fear of others' judgment. "I can't go to the stadium alone, nor walk calmly near my house," she confessed visibly affected, reflecting how difficult it is for her to manage her day-to-day life. Additionally, she recounted that the last time she went for a walk was recently, when her friends joined her, highlighting how limiting her situation is.

The episodes of anxiety are intense and difficult for her to control. "I can't breathe and I can't control it," she expressed about how everyday situations overwhelm her emotionally. Despite the challenges, she remains hopeful of overcoming this condition. "I pray to God every day," she shared, showing her desire to regain the freedom to move without the fear that constantly accompanies her.

A specialist's analysis of social phobia

Psychologist and writer Gabriel Cartañá  provided his professional perspective on La Tora's case, explaining that what she describes is not simply social anxiety, but social phobia. According to Cartañá, this is the appropriate clinical term to refer to the condition the media personality experiences.

The expert pointed out that people interact on three social levels: the intimate environment (family and close friends), the intermediate (acquaintances and coworkers), and the public (strangers or recognized people without a personal bond). For a public figure like La Tora, social phobia can intensify due to constant exposure to public opinion and the impact of social media.

Cartañá highlighted that social platforms amplify the fear of judgment, as anyone can give an immediate and anonymous opinion, creating even greater emotional pressure for those who are publicly exposed. In the past, judgments were less accessible, but now, with social media, any negative comment can quickly reach and deeply affect those who feel vulnerable, like La Tora.
