Explosions in Tel Aviv: They're Investigating Whether It Was a Terrorist Attack
Multiple reports of explosions were received in different areas of Bat Yam.
At least three empty buses exploded simultaneously in two parking lots in the Bat Yam neighborhood of Tel Aviv. The Israeli police are investigating the incident as a possible coordinated terrorist attack.
Simultaneous bus explosions
According to an official statement, multiple reports of explosions were received from different points in Bat Yam. Although there were no casualties, the authorities are working to clarify the facts and have found evidence that two other buses might have been targeted, although the explosive devices inside them did not detonate.

The Tel Aviv district police chief, Haim Sargarof, confirmed that the explosives had timers and that the attack seems to have originated in the West Bank. They appear to be improvised devices, similar to those used in previous attacks in the region.
Claiming messages and official reactions
Minutes after the attack, a group identifying as a branch of Hamas's military wing, the Qassam Brigades of Tulkarem, posted a message on Telegram: "We will never forget to avenge our martyrs while the occupation is in our lands." However, the authorities have not officially pointed to any organization as responsible for the attack.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is receiving constant updates on the situation, while Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the intensification of military operations in the West Bank. "We will pursue the terrorists to the end and destroy their infrastructure in the refugee camps of Judea and Samaria," Katz declared.

Security measures and consequences of the attack
The explosions caused the temporary suspension of metro service in Bat Yam. The police have completed searches on buses and trains, although they are still investigating how many suspects participated in the attack and whether the explosives were placed by a single person or multiple individuals.
Tulkarem and its refugee camps have been the focus of recent Israeli military incursions, in a context of increasing tension in the region. Since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, Israel has intensified its military operations in Gaza and the West Bank, restricting the entry of Palestinians into its territory.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Israeli government is evaluating new security measures to prevent future attacks.
