After the setback against Alianza Lima, the management made a decisive decision: Fernando Gago will no longer be in charge of Boca Juniors. The match on Friday against Rosario Central will be his farewell.
The fall in the Copa Libertadores was the final straw. Boca was eliminated in phase 2 after losing on penalties to the Peruvian team, and the atmosphere became untenable. Boca's president, Juan Román Riquelme and the management decided to terminate the coach's contract.
Gago had taken over in October 2024, with the goal of qualifying for the Libertadores and competing in the Copa Argentina. However, the results did not favor him. In 22 matches managed, he achieved 11 wins, 6 draws, and 5 losses, with a 59% effectiveness.
Gago's last match at Boca
