The Afa Confirmed the Rescheduling of the Matches Suspended Due to Rain.

The matches Banfield-Independiente and Platense-Defensa y Justicia will be completed on Tuesday, March 4.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) announced the rescheduling of the matches that were suspended on Sunday due to the heavy rains that affected the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. The matches between Banfield-Independiente and Platense-Defensa y Justicia, corresponding to the eighth round of the 2025 Torneo Apertura, will be completed on Tuesday, March 4 at different times.

The match between the Taladro and the King of Cups, which was tied at 0, was suspended at 68 minutes, so they must play the remaining 22 minutes in two halves of 11 minutes. One detail to consider is that, due to the short remaining time, there will not be a prolonged halftime break. The match will resume tomorrow at 7:30 PM.

After it was suspended, referee Silvio Trucco argued: "We prioritized the physical condition and health of the players. We understood that it reached a point where football couldn't be played, the ball wasn't moving as it should, and that's why I made the decision to suspend the match. The captains were divided, so the decision was mine."

Meanwhile, the Squid and the Hawk of Varela must play the remaining 64 minutes of their match in two halves of 32 minutes and will have a 15-minute break. Let's remember that the visiting team was winning 1-0 with a goal by Matías Miranda at 11 minutes of the first half. Like the other suspended match, it will resume tomorrow, but half an hour later, at 8 PM.

Referee Nicolás Lamolina explained his decision to suspend the match: "There is no normal development of the game, and we had to suspend the match. We did all the protocol checks in advance with the schedule, the field was fine before the game started. The game began, the rain didn't stop and even increased, and already in some areas, good football couldn't be played.

To conclude, Lamolina said: "The most important thing here is the integrity of the players, I spoke with the captains when we stopped around 17 minutes, they intended to keep playing, but the truth is that as a referee, it's my responsibility, and considering this situation, I had to suspend the match."
