La Derecha Diario Montevideo's City Hall Wastes 1,500,000 Dollars on Carnival
The administration governed by the Frente Amplio since 1990 wastes taxpayers' money on carnival.
The Departmental Administration of Montevideo, governed by the Frente Amplio since 1990, wastes at least 1,427,100 dollars on the 2025 carnival.
The details of the waste, which include everything from parades to support for murga, parody, humor, magazine, and black and lubolo contests, are enormous.
PabloBarletta, manager of Festivities and Shows of the Montevideo Administration, indicated that this "popular festivity" is an essential part of the "national idiosyncrasy."
"It's part of our culture and that's why it's promoted by the administration in all its manifestations," he stated.
Enormous waste
Wasting almost a million and a half dollars on a festivity where less than a quarter of Montevideo's population attends is not only an abuse but also a disrespect to the 75% of Montevideans who are not interested in the carnival.
Meanwhile Montevideo is covered in garbage, there is fecalmatter on the beaches, property taxes have multiplied in recent years, parks are filthy, and the urban ticket is the most expensive in America, the administration wastes almost a million and a half dollars on funding carnival groups.
Why do they do it?
Very simple. The carnival is a transmission belt in the cultural hegemony of the left. Especially of the Uruguayan far-left. Basically, the murgas promote their agenda. With the money paid by all Montevideans, the cultural hegemony of the left is financed.
They sing praises to the Frente Amplio, the "disappeared," the unions, the student associations, and of course, the communistdictatorships of Cuba and Venezuela.
They criticize and insult the Coalition parties and destroy, with false arguments, the ideas of freedom.
The murga choirs promote hatred, resentment, and a backward statism that has sunk Uruguay into poverty and decay.
They annihilate any person or organization that defends the ideas of freedom, that promotes the free market and free enterprise.
For the carnival performers, the entrepreneur and the small business owner are enemies to be destroyed, which is why they are insulted permanently.
Total immorality
With the money of all Montevideans, the Frente Amplio administration fosters a show full of social resentment, promoting the worst of society.
Toxic hatred, social resentment, and destruction of the ideas of freedom and true social progress.
No one wants to censor any carnival show. But if they want to continue doing their shows, they should be funded with their ownmoney, not with tax money, with the money of the taxpayers who sacrificially pay their dues.
