Yao Cabrera Was Arrested: Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison for Reduction to Servitude

The influencer was arrested in Córdoba due to a 2024 sentence issued by the Federal Oral Court No. 3 of San Martín.

The former YouTuber Marcos Cabrera Rodríguez, known as  "Yao Cabrera",was arrested in Córdobaafter receiving a four-year prison sentence. The sentence, issued in April 2024 by the Federal Court No. 3 of San Martín, found him guilty of the crime of reducing to servitude.

In 2020, a video editor reported him for subjecting her to abusive working conditions. According to court documents, Cabrera hired her between December 2019 and January 2020 with the promise of a salary, housing, and food. However, the victim suffered long  working hours of up to 24 hours without rest, threats of fines or expulsion, poor quality food, and the prohibition of leaving  the house except on Sundays, provided she had completed her tasks.

The ruling also detailed that she never received the promised salary and that Cabrera forced her to record videos under strict rules of coexistence. The justice system determined that the influencer took advantage of her vulnerability, placing her in a situation of servitude.

The arrest and judicial measures

In 2023, the victim received support from the National Program for the Rescue and Accompaniment of Victims of Human Trafficking. A year earlier, Cabrera had been prosecuted without preventive detention, with an embargo of three million pesos and a restraining order prohibiting any contact with the complainant.

In mid-February 2025, the Federal Police carried out his arrest in Córdoba, after his sentence was confirmed.  In addition to the prison sentence, the justice system ordered the influencer to compensate the victim with six million pesos.

The conditions in the "Mansión WIFI"

According to the complainant's testimony,  Cabrera and his team initially hired her as a graphic designer in the "Mansión WIFI," located in a country club in Escobar. Soon, they demanded she participate in videos without offering money, only social media followers.

After becoming homeless, she agreed to live in the mansion under the imposed conditions. She spent her first night sleeping on the floor and was later assigned a bed.  The food was precarious: rice with canned tomatoes, three water crackers with tea for a snack, and, on many occasions,  spoiled food.  If she ate too much, she was accused of harming the rest of the group and fined.

The restrictions and mistreatment were constant. She was forbidden to rest before dawn and could only go out on Sundays. Additionally, she was forced to clean clogged toilets under threats of being left on the street.  Cabrera repeatedly told her she had to behave like his "slave," breaking the promise of a ten thousand pesos payment and offering only shelter and poor-quality food.

The complaint, supported by evidence and testimonies, resulted in a firm conviction that led to the influencer's arrest.
