Verónica Ojeda Revealed the 'identity Crisis' Her Son Dieguito Fernando Is Experiencing

The teenager no longer wants to be referred to as 'Dieguito,' and his mother explained the reasons behind this decision.

Verónica Ojeda broke her silence and revealed that her son, Dieguito Fernando Maradona, is going through an emotionally complex time. The 12-year-old, born from her relationship with the late Diego Armando Maradona, is facing what his mother describes as a "identity crisis" amid the legal conflict over the death of the soccer star.

In an interview with Intrusos, Ojeda explained that her son  "is already a teenager and understands absolutely everything". She also detailed that Dieguito feels affected by the comments and news circulating about his family. "He asks me, and many times, he gets angry about the things they say. In fact, he no longer wants me to call him Dieguito, he tells me:  'I am Diego'", she recounted.

The former sports teacher also emphasized that the boy is exposed to information that affects him emotionally. "He gets very angry and sees all these things, so I have to be very careful. This year is going to be important for the whole family because we want to know the truth. My son feels it inside, he doesn't talk much and keeps everything inside," she confessed.

She also highlighted that Dieguito is still dealing with the absence of his father and that his emotions fluctuate:  "There are days when he gets angry with his dad, others when he talks a lot about him, and some when he doesn't want the subject mentioned."

In this context, Ojeda assured that she distanced herself from the media to protect her son. She also referred to the age difference between Dieguito and his older siblings, Dalma, Gianinna, and Diego Junior.  "They are already grown and can handle the situation, but he still can't. Still, watch out, because... in a few years he's going to have a peak!", she expressed with a laugh, suggesting that her son has a strong character that will make itself known in the future.

The start of the trial that will determine responsibilities in Maradona's death has also influenced the minor's emotional state. In this regard, Ojeda preferred to be cautious with her statements. "Justice will tell. I talked a lot with my psychologist and Dieguito's. Every word I say can affect him because he is still very young", she explained.
