Michelle Trachtenberg From 'buffy' and 'gossip Girl' Died at 39: What She Died Of

Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her roles in Gossip Girl, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and  The Adventures of Pete & Pete, passed away at 39 years old. Her body was found in a complex of apartments and shops in Columbus Circle,  near Central Park South, in New York.  The news was confirmed by her mother to ABC News.

Although the exact circumstances of her death have not yet been clarified, several hypotheses are being considered. It was reported that the actress had undergone a liver transplant, which could have caused complications.  However,  the New York Post indicated that the cause could have been natural.

The police report indicated that Trachtenberg was found "unconscious and unresponsive" around eight in the morning. Details about the condition in which her body was found have not yet been revealed. To clarify the circumstances of her death, an autopsy will be performed. Meanwhile, the police are not investigating the case as suspicious.

Her representative, Gary Mantoosh, issued a statement confirming the news: "With great sadness, we report the passing of Michelle Trachtenberg. The family requests privacy during this difficult time. No further details will be shared at this time."

Career and Difficult Moments

From an early age, Trachtenberg excelled in acting. Her career began in 1991 and she rose to fame with The Adventures of Pete & Pete and the movie Harriet the Spy (1996), where she worked alongside Rosie O'Donnell  and J. Smith-Cameron. Subsequently, her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer established her as a prominent figure on 2000s television. In 2007, she joined Gossip Girl as Georgina Sparks, a character she reprised in the HBO Max remake in 2023.

In 2021, the actress made a shocking revelation about an episode of physical abuse she allegedly suffered on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer by Joss Whedon. This event marked her life and affected her relationship with the industry.

Despite remaining active in her career, she never spoke publicly about her health status. However,  in the past year, her followers began to notice changes in her appearance, which sparked speculation.  In response to these comments, the actress replied on Instagram: "I've never had plastic surgery, I'm happy and healthy. Beware, haters"
