How Many Millions of Euros Does Mauro Icardi Lose Due to His Suspension at Galatasaray

The amount of money the footballer could lose if he breaches the contract he signed this afternoon was revealed.

Mauro Icardi is going through a complicated time at Galatasaray after his return to Türkiye following months of rehabilitation in Argentina due to his injury. In a recent meeting with the club's management, the suspension of his contract would have been confirmed with the aim of freeing up a foreign player spot on the team.

However, this suspension would have specific conditions, allowing him to continue receiving his salary as long as he remains within the agreed terms. Nevertheless, any breach could result in a significant financial loss for the Argentine forward.

According to journalist Guido Záffora on DDM (América TV), the meeting between Icardi and Galatasaray lasted approximately two hours. As a result, the club set a deadline for his return to Türkiye: April 1. If he doesn't meet this condition, Galatasaray could take measures that directly affect his income.

Currently, the forward has a contract in effect until mid-2026,  with an estimated salary of 6 million euros per season, which is approximately 6.5 million dollars net annually, according to official club information in 2023. Additionally, some recent reports suggest that with bonuses, it could reach 10 million euros annually.

While he continues to receive his salary despite the temporary suspension, the scenario could change drastically if he doesn't return by the established date. In the event of a six-month suspension, until July 2025, Icardi would lose between 3 and 5 million euros in unearned salary.

How much money would Mauro Icardi lose in total due to his suspension?

If the suspension became permanent, which would imply a contract termination, Icardi could lose between 15 and 20 million euros until 2026. However, this scenario is less likely, given his status as a key figure on the team.

Mauro Icardi must travel to Buenos Aires to finalize arrangements in court regarding who will have custody of his daughters, Francesca and Isabella, and how the visits with Wanda Nara will be if he remains in charge of the minors. The athlete hopes that the girls can live with him in Istanbul and return to their school activities in the Middle East.
