The Government Announced That It Will Eliminate 695 Positions in the Dgi and Reduce the Workforce by 27%.

38 reception offices and service offices, whose procedures can be done online, will also be closed.

The presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, announced today a new adjustment in the public sector with the elimination of 695 positions in the General Tax Directorate (DGI), which represents a 27% reduction in the agency's structure.

This measure by Javier Milei's Government is part of the so-called "chainsaw plan" to continue reducing state spending, reduce the fiscal deficit, and modernize public administration.

"695 positions will be eliminated in the General Tax Directorate. It's approximately 27% of this department's structure. 33 positions will be eliminated at the DGI's headquarters and 88 in the large taxpayers' subdirectorate," detailed Adorni in a press conference.

The decision was made by the director of the Revenue and Customs Control Agency (ARCA), Juan Paso, and the head of the DGI, Andrés Vázquez. As part of the restructuring, 38 collection offices and service offices will also be closed, whose procedures, according to Milei's Government, can be carried out 90% online.

This adjustment adds to other cuts already implemented in various areas of the State, with the aim of eliminating unnecessary positions and optimizing public management.

In the press conference, the presidential spokesperson made an irony by pointing out: "There were cases like the town of Huinca Renancó where people with positions, that is, earning substantial salaries, had the tedious job of attending two inquiries per day."

"We also found a gym with treadmills, fully equipped, that was used exclusively by the executive leadership of the defunct AFIP by previous governments," a place that will also be eliminated and used for "tasks that are more useful for the agency."

Adorni announced that by March 31 "voluntary retirements and the rest of the disconnections will be finalized," a process that began with the start of the libertarian administration and "will end up reducing the workforce by 2,815 people."

Finally, within the framework of the restructuring of ARCA's workforce, a measure not implemented since 2001 in the former AFIP, "the head of the department and its directors will stop receiving the so-called hierarchy account, for which the head of the Agency earned more than 30 million pesos." "The chainsaw is infinite and doesn't stop," concluded the spokesperson.
