Due to the Enormous Demand, Starlink Is 'saturated' in the Amba and There Is a Waiting List.

For now, the company restricted the activation of new connections in this region, the most densely populated.

The arrival of Starlink in Argentina under the Government of Javier Milei represented a turning point in global internet access, and our country was no exception.

Both in rural and remote areas, where traditional connectivity was practically nonexistent, and in regions with greater access to internet services, the possibility of having a high-speed and low-latency connection, thanks to a network of low-orbit satellites, sparked the interest of thousands of users who saw in this technology the solution to their connectivity problems.

The ease of installation, the absence of long-term contractual commitments, and the possibility of accessing the internet from any location made Starlink a highly attractive alternative.

Many users, frustrated with the limitations of local providers, opted for this service, generating an accelerated growth in demand. However, in these early years of Elon Musk's internet, Starlink faced a significant challenge: the limited capacity of its satellite constellation, something that also affects Argentina.

With the expansion of the service in the City of Buenos Aires and the Greater Buenos Aires area, the infrastructure began to show signs of saturation. Currently, the company has restricted the activation of new connections in this region, the most densely populated in the country.

Until Starlink manages to launch more satellites into orbit, the residential plan, the most accessible option, is not available in the AMBA. The alternatives include contracting the roaming plans, which are considerably more expensive, or purchasing the modem and joining a waiting list, waiting for the launch of new satellites to expand the service's capacity.

The company's message

When attempting to contract the service for an address located in the City of Buenos Aires or Greater Buenos Aires, Starlink issues a warning: "Starlink service has reached maximum capacity in your area. However, the good news is that you can still make a deposit now to reserve your place on the waiting list and receive a notification as soon as the service becomes available again".

"Please note that we can't provide an estimated timeframe for service availability, but our teams are working as quickly as possible to add more capacity to the constellation so we can continue expanding coverage for more customers around the world", the statement adds.

In Argentina, the City of Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area are the only regions where this limitation is present, while in the rest of the country the service remains available without restrictions. However, this problem is not exclusive to Argentina, as it also affects other countries.
