Controversy in Big Brother: a Player's Grandmother Died and They Didn't Inform Her
Martina's family was very hurt because the show's production refused to tell her the truth.
Tonight Ángel De Brito revealed on LAM (América TV) a new internal issue in Gran Hermano. But this time the dispute was not between the players, but between the reality show's production and Martina Pereyra's family.
"One of the participants' grandmothers passed away. It was a grandmother who was very present and had even gone to the stands to cheer," Ángel De Brito began saying.
"The participant wasn't informed, and as far as I had spoken with the production, in previous episodes, before entering the house, the kids are asked: 'if something happens with a family member or a health issue, do you want to know?'", he recalled about the protocol that GH would have for these cases.
Gran Hermano no le contó a una jugadora que se le murió un familiar
"And the participants here also mentioned it. The kids respond with yes or no. Then beyond the kids, there's also a decision from the family, to tell the production to inform them because maybe what happened wasn't foreseen, and there are unforeseeable events related to health or an accident," he emphasized, about the reasons why the previously mentioned protocol can be broken.
"So there, the one outside decides, not the one inside who has little information," he analyzed about the situations that have occurred throughout the different seasons.
It was then that Fede Bongiorno, a panelist on LAM, shared the details of the death of Martina's grandmother, which would have taken all her family members by surprise.
"In this case, Martina's grandmother passed away. I spoke with Delfina, Martina's sister, over the weekend. She confirmed it to me, and we talked a bit about this decision they had made not to tell her, and it was because she is quite distressed inside the house. She is going through a difficult time, and the production felt that giving her this information would stress her even more," he recounted the reasons GH would have given Martina's family for the young woman not to receive this harsh news.
It was then that, outraged by the situation, the leader of the angelitas lashed out: "The truth is they're all crazy. A family member of yours dies, and only you can know how that news can make you feel. No, I don't think what they did is right."
