Biden Allocated Millions to Interfere in Poland's Elections

Mario Nawfal, a major influencer on the social network X, shared on social media an analysis based on a Gazeta Polska investigation about USAID's funding of "foreign interference" activities in Poland.

The report reveals that during Joe Biden's presidency, millions of dollars from American taxpayers were allocated to Polish groups seeking to weaken the Law and Justice Party (PiS) government and promote progressive leftist policies.

According to the investigation, USAID funds allegedly financed activist organizations, progressive media, and campaigns aimed at silencing conservative media, such as TV Republika, by pressuring advertisers to withdraw their financial support.

Additionally, it highlights American funding during the Biden era for pro-LGBT activities in schools and campaigns that discredit Poland's border security policy.

This report exposes how USAID, under the Biden administration, channeled resources to progressive causes, many of which sought to undermine the Polish PiS government, wrongly labeling it as "undemocratic" and "oppressive" toward women and LGBT people.

The organizations funded by these funds even went so far as to pressure the American press to criticize figures like Jarosław Kaczyński, the PiS leader, and accused the Polish government of violating human rights and promoting anti-Ukrainian and anti-Islamic policies.

Moreover, some of these organizations were complicit in projects that softened Hamas's image and supported pro-immigration causes.

The Gazeta Polska report also reveals the existence of a 2021 internal USAID document titled Disinformation Primer, leaked by the organization America First Legal.

This document, which remains "for internal use only," suggested that governments, NGOs, and media collaborate to combat what was considered "disinformation." It proposed tactics such as promoting or suppressing content through search engines or cutting advertising funding to media considered sources of disinformation.

One of the most prominent leftist groups in this context is the Homo Faber Foundation, based in Lublin, which organized events to promote Arab and Islamic culture and has in the past attacked the Polish government for its stance on refugees and border security.

Additionally, the Foundation received American funds, highlighting how USAID supported entities opposing PiS policies.

USAID also funded other organizations and projects, such as the LGBT Tolerado Association and the Empowering Children Foundation, which actively promoted the pro-LGBT agenda in Poland.

For example, Tolerado organized numerous protests in front of PiS members' offices and used the discourse of human rights and equality to challenge opponents.

Meanwhile, the Empowering Children Foundation implemented campaigns in schools to promote LGBT ideology among children through initiatives like Rainbow Friday.

U.S. influence also extended to the Polish judicial sphere. The Watchdog Foundation and the "Free Courts" movement, supported by USAID and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) funds, promoted a critical narrative of the PiS government, which they considered undemocratic.

These organized seminars and international meetings that aimed to pressure for sanctions against Polish officials and sanction Kaczyński and other PiS members for alleged crimes related to democracy and the rule of law.

The report also mentions that the USAID funding cuts decided by Donald Trump severely affected many of these progressive groups in Poland.

Organizations like Krytyka Polityczna and the Institute of Reportage, which often published anti-American texts, were harmed by the lack of American funding.

However, some funds continued to flow through other entities like the NED, which continued supporting projects against the Polish government and in favor of the progressive agenda.

Additionally, the report highlights USAID's funding to groups like the Kultura Liberalna Foundation, which had promoted initiatives in favor of transitional justice and criticism of the PiS government.

The foundation also received resources from entities like the European Commission and the Polish-German Foundation, which are aligned with progressive policies opposing the current Polish authorities.

In a broader context, the analysis also highlights how these foreign funding initiatives were part of a broader effort to influence Polish internal politics, especially after Biden came to power.

Critics of these practices consider these interventions a form of foreign interference in Poland's internal affairs, aiming to weaken the PiS government and promote an agenda aligned with the progressive interests of the American administration.
