Amalia of the Netherlands Debuts Solo: Christens a Ship and Copies Máxima's Style
The crown princess led her first official event without the company of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.
Princess Amalia of the Netherlands starred in her first official solo act this Saturday, marking a milestone in her path as heir to the throne. Without the company of her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, the young princess presided over the christening ceremony of the combat support ship ‘Den Helden’ in Vlissingen.
The ‘Den Helden’, with almost 180 meters (590 feet) in length and a crew of 75 people, was designed and built by Damen Naval for the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands. This ship will be responsible for supplying fuel, ammunition, water, food, and spare parts to warships worldwide. Additionally, its versatility will allow it to participate in anti-drug trafficking operations, support refugee flows, and provide humanitarian assistance, as detailed by the Royal House.
During the event, Amalia toured the ship and spoke with the crew and those who collaborated in its construction. This event, although simple in protocol, represented a crucial step for the princess and the Dutch monarchy, marking the beginning of a new stage in her public life.
The heir to the throne thus began a series of institutional commitments she will assume from now on. This change was expected, considering that since January she has been receiving an annual public allowance of 1.5 million euros for her institutional work. This income will allow her to combine her royal responsibilities with her studies in Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics at the University of Amsterdam, as well as facilitate an independent life.

Amalia left behind her stay in Madrid, where she took refuge after mafia threats. During that time, she took the opportunity to study and build friendships, an experience for which she feels very grateful.
The elegant attire of the Princess of Orange
For her solo debut, the princess chose a sophisticated dusty pink suit by Max Mara, consisting of a double-breasted blazer and wide pleated trousers. This choice had already been seen during a charity event in Athens, which she attended with her mother in memory of Marianna Vardinogiannis, a friend of the royal family.
On this occasion, due to the cold weather, Amalia complemented her look with a camel-colored turtleneck sweater and a three-quarter coat of the same tone, also by Max Mara. Following Queen Máxima's style, she wore the coat over her shoulders, showcasing her mother's stylistic influence.

The earthy-toned accessories included a handbag by Marina Raphael, stiletto cleats, and a braided raffia headband. The princess completed her image with a wavy ponytail, adding a youthful and elegant touch to this historic day for the Dutch monarchy.
